A LETTER FROM YOUR DAUGHTERS

Dear Fathers,
We understand how much you love, cherish, adore and above all, protect us. But dads? Your babies are grown already and this life as enough as it seems, it would not be enough with time. And please understand, that when we talk about
having our own life and going away, it's not always about those boys, their sons.

It's not about having sex all night with those boys you seem never to like. No, it's never about them. It's about having something to do for ourselves. Having someone to love, cherish, adore and protect as well, just as you taught us.

You think the money you give is not enough? Of course, it's not true.  It's enough for us but daddies, why can't we just get ourselves that gown hanging on that mannequin when we want to and let you be surprised how much taste you have come to bequeath to us.

The days would not be as beautiful as it is in our heads, that, we know and the nights could be scary sometimes that we would wish for your shoulders.

But what do we tell our kids when they ask "mummy why don't you eat beef and we replied "my daddy said I shouldn't eat beef?" It's not about the beef as well, it's about experience. Just like you gathered yours, permit us to eat fish, pork, beef, chicken and decide which we love.

We couldn't remember when we clocked one, two or three but we could know how strong you were to us. Remember then daddies? When you carried us on your shoulders? Let us play with your beards and those scary nights when we had nightmares, you allowed us lay on your chest till dawn? Yes, try to understand we want you to have our shoulders now, play with your grand children and allow us to be there those nights when you get so old and the night becomes scary like death stays the other room.

We would always be your babies and you, our fathers but then how can we use these that you taught us if you do not allow us to grow up? And how do we tell the world how great you are if we do not step into it?

Therefore dear daddies, we love you. Permit us to grow and give another the life you gave us.

From
Dear Daughters
Forever babies.

  4. Poof! Reading that made me feel like a father already! I'm in my early twenties, but I tell you, Dory, that crazie weighed me down about as much as a hundred. Nice stuff.
