that particular day? Some people did amaze us. They're popularly known as NEPA, even though the name has been changed numerous times, they're still addressed as NEPA. The most beautiful part of it is when there power restoration when people scream "Up NEPA".
One of the officials had walked knocked on our door and lucky enough to be answered by my dad. He didn't say much but just tendered that white slip to my dad- electricity bills, popularly regarded as NEPA bills. It was in a matter of seconds when my father's brow shot up
"What? Three hundred and seventy-eight naira right? From which year to which?"
"From January 2015 to June of this same year sir. It's three hundred and seventy-eight thousand sir"
"Wow. I never knew I breed humans in my compound"
I would leave the conversation at that but the fact remains that this particular LGA in Ondo State has not seen light from December 23rd, 2014 till now which by now is over a year and three months. The shout of "Up Nepa" has been long forgotten that playing pranks by merely screaming it would not even raise a butt or bat an eyebrow. Imagine, buying fuel for a year and over 3 months? Generators running almost in all houses sounding like an industrial centre. In fact, no one expects to get cold drinks from any store.
Therefore, my prospective youth corp members be informed that if you are posted to South senatorial districts in Ondo State (Odigbo, Okitipupa, Irele, Ese-Odo, ilaje and Ode-aye LGAs), don't expect "light".
When you get a place to charge your phone, don't hesitate to charge your power bank(s)too and don't get your phones dead hoping to always get somewhere to charge. Some people get tired of charging phones for the whole street.
Don't expect to get cold drinks from any store and when you do? The price will set your head reeling with "Are you for real?"
So my dear prospective corpers, if you fall into any of these LGA's you need whole armour against boredom or days off your phone but forget any doubt about social life. It is social enough.
